Why is Correct Installation So Important?

Even the safest car seat cannot perform as designed if it is installed incorrectly.

Research has shown that many child restraints are either installed incorrectly or used incorrectly, which can reduce their effectiveness during a crash.

Basic Installation Steps

While each car seat model has its own instructions, the general process includes:

  • Position the seat correctly in your vehicle
  • Secure using the seatbelt or ISOFIX connectors
  • Attach the top tether strap to the anchor point
  • Tighten until the seat moves no more than 2–3 cm

Final Safety Checks

Before every journey, parents should check:

  • Harness straps sit correctly at shoulder height
  • Harness is snug (perform the pinch test)
  • Tighten tether, tether should be taut not tight
  • Seat is properly secured

If you are unsure about installation, visiting a professional child restraint fitting station can provide valuable peace of mind.
